All-around effort leads the Notre Dame Titans past Eastern, 4-2

An impressive two-way performance from CJ Corns led the Notre Dame Titans to a 4-2 win Wednesday over Eastern , as Corns came up huge at the dish and on the bump.

Corns reached base two times in the game for the Notre Dame Titans. He singled in the third inning.

The Notre Dame Titans got the win thanks in large part to Corns’ dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Corns allowed two earned runs, four hits and six walks over 6 1/3 innings.

The Notre Dame Titans held off Eastern, as Eastern was unable to overcome a three-run third inning deficit.

Eastern scored two runs in the fourth on a two-run double by Pollock. Still, Eastern couldn’t catch the Notre Dame Titans.

Tomlison was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

Notre Dame Titans closer Hayden Baker put away the final two outs to record the save.

The Notre Dame Titans went up for good in the third, scoring three runs on a groundout by Brandon Lansing and a two-run single by Drew Cassidy.
