Titans baseball jump on Eastern early and coast to 11-1 win

The Notre Dame Titans jumped out to an early lead on Eastern and captured an 11-1 victory on Friday at Eastern High School.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Notre Dame Titans left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Brandon Lansing, a passed ball, and an RBI single by Chase Rodriguez during the first inning helped the Notre Dame Titans put some runs on the board early.

It was a good day at the plate for the Notre Dame Titans’ CJ Corns. Corns went 3-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.

Hayden Baker got the win for the Notre Dame Titans thanks to 10 strikeouts. Baker allowed no earned runs, one hit and two walks over five innings.

Pollock couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Eastern, taking the loss. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.

The Notre Dame Titans pushed across three runs in both the third inning and the fifth. In the third, the Notre Dame Titans scored on an RBI single by Lansing, scoring Baker.

The Notre Dame Titans increased their lead with two runs in the fourth. A hit into a fielder’s choice scored Corns to start the scoring in the inning.

The Notre Dame Titans added three more runs in the top of the fifth. A hit into a fielder’s choice scored Sam Kayser and Billy Book for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Baker’s single, plating Corns.
