Titans dominate in sectional championship, win 3-0

The Notre Dame Lady Titans took down the Paint Valley Bearcats to win their Division IV Sectional Championship. It was a complete one-sided domination by a Titan volleyball tea, who swept their opponent in three sets. The Titans started strong and finished even stronger.

Notre Dame started the first set with a comfortable 14-6 lead on the Bearcats and continued on to win the set 25-14. The second set was the closest but was still not enough to come close to beating a powerful Titans team. Notre Dame then went on to win the second set 25-17.

Notre Dame head coach Kelsey Glockner said “I think our team atmosphere was well for our us tonight. I think we did a lot of things really well tonight especially our defense but I definitely think our weakness tonight was our hitting errors.”

The third set was nothing short of perfection for the lady Titans as they continued to dominate the match. They started the third set out with a 10-0 lead and that lead wasn’t shortened at all. The Titans finished off the third set with a 15-4 run and went on to sweep the match.

Notre Dame is 22-1 overall and 14-0 in the league so far this season. Since the team’s only loss of the season against Unioto, the Titans have won nine games in a row.

“I would attribute our team’s success to the girls, they have had really great dedication, always come into practice ready, they always work hard, it’s not something that I have to push them to do. We always work on conditioning and volleyball, and I think that has been a huge factor to our success this year.” said coach Glockner on reasons why the team has had so much success.

The Titans have moved on to the District Semi, which will be played next Thursday at Jackson high school. Glockner and the Notre Dame Lady Titans look to keep their tournament aspirations alive.
