Titans first-inning burst enough to top East, 19-2

A 12-run explosion in the first inning lifted the Notre Dame Titans to a 19-2 win in five innings over East at Chillicothe VA Field on Thursday.

The Notre Dame Titans scored in the first on an RBI single by Drew Cassidy, a two-run double by Tyler Speas, a groundout by Chase Rodriguez, an RBI single by Grant Sparks, a two-run triple by Truman Hash, a two-run double by Cassidy, an RBI triple by Hayden Baker, an RBI single by Speas, and an RBI single by Sam Kayser.

Cassidy racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Notre Dame Titans.

Speas got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out eight, walked one and surrendered three hits.

The Notre Dame Titans easily handled East pitching as seven hitters combined for 17 hits, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Bailey was charged with the loss. He allowed twelve runs in one inning, walked five and struck out none.

The Notre Dame Titans built upon their lead with seven runs in the third. The inning looked promising, as CJ Corns singled, scoring Kayser to kick things off. That was followed up by Cassidy’s single, plating Billy Book.
