Titans survive overtime thriller at Symmes Valley, 55-54.

Tuesday night the Titans found themselves in a dog fight from the opening tip-off. Notre Dame found themselves down 9-0 to start the game, but quickly rallied with their own 10-0 run to take back the lead and end the first quarter 10-9.

Symmes Valley made it’s own run in the second quarter after a few mistakes by Notre Dame, and at halftime the Titans trailed Symmes Valley 24-18.

The third quarter would see the Titans take the lead and extend it to 9 points before losing it as quick as they built it. The Titans  would find themselves trailing 38-35 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Both teams would trade baskets and with only a minute remaining in regulation, Trevon Turner would hit both his foul shots to tie the game at 44-44 and sending the game to overtime.

In overtime both teams would again trade made shots and would take it to a second overtime tied 50-50. The second overtime began to play out like the first, but with the Titans leading by 2, Symmes Valley would hit a 3 point basket to regain the lead. Notre Dame point guard Trevon Turner would find Isiah Johnson for the layup and the game winning shot to seal the victory, Notre Dame’s eighth of the year.

The Titans are back in action Friday night as they travel to East in an SOC 1 rivalry matchup. Tip-off scheduled for 6:00pm.
